Best Robotics Kits for Beginners
I’ve told you we’re gonna start making some cool Robots this year so, in this post, I will be sharing with you some of the best Robotics Kits for Beginners and some of the Best Robot Kits for Kids to get started with. I will also be sharing the links to some of the Best Robotics Kits for Beginners and kids so that you can easily click and buy them and start making your Robot right away.
How to Make a Robot for Beginners?
Yes, we will answer this question. But before that, Let me ask you one thing– ‘What is a robot?’. Well, a robot is simply an electromechanical device that will automatically sense its environment by itself, process the data, make a decision by itself, and react to it without human intervention.
New to Robotics?
We have a beginner’s guide on “Getting Started with Robotics” which will give you a kick start in this field. Check out our free video tutorial below for a brief introduction.
For ease, we will consider a Robot as an Organism – A Human Being. So, what things do we have?
We have sense organs to sense our environment- to see, hear, smell, and touch things. Then we have a nervous system – a brain that processes these signals. Muscles to move your hands, and legs or do whatever you want. Then we have a heart that circulates blood, supplies oxygen, and provides energy for the working of your entire system. Then we have a body, where the sensors, muscles, heart, veins, and all other parts are neatly ‘assembled’.
Well, what about a robot?
Like an organism, a robot has a chassis or a frame; a frame that can support and carry all the sensors and parts of the whole robot. Like our sense organs, robots have sensors such as IR sensors, ultrasonic sensors, and heat sensors to name a few, to see and interact with the environment.
What’s next? We need to process it. For that, we will have a processing unit. Normally, we will use a logic circuit. This logic circuit could be a simple circuit consisting of basic components such as resistors, capacitors, and transistors to perform simple and easy logical decisions or a microcontroller such as an Arduino or PIC to do complex processing. That depends upon the complexity of your robot.
Once the inputs are analyzed and processed, we need the robot to react to that input. For that, we will use actuators. Actuators can be any electromechanical device such as motors that will move the entire robot or part of a robot, servo motors that will lift the hand; or anything.
That is done. Now all we need is a power source that can provide enough energy to power up all the sensors, motors, and microcontrollers. For that, we will use a current source such as a battery or a power adapter.

Qualities of the Best Robotics Kit
A Beginners Robotic Kit should possess the below-mentioned qualities-
It Should have a good chassis. The chassis must be able to hold/withstand the weight of all the components – electronics and mechanical parts of the robot without any problem
A Good robotic kit should be able to withstand all the outside conditions of the environment where the robot is being operated. For example, in the case of a high-speed remote-controlled car, the mechanical parts should be of good quality and it must have the facility to get rid of the extra heat that is being generated by the motor driver ICs.
It should have enough space to arrange all the wires and components neatly.
